Last January, I engaged in a good old fashioned system of trading music over conversation and cold beer with a roommate. One of the bands that glowed out of my old laptop speakers that day was Detroit’s Protomartyr. Aggressive and listless, sharp and blunt, the Detroit based quartet’s antics have been not only on my sights since then, but have even started to be featured on a growing number of high read blogs and sites. As always, it feels great to watch an underground artist grow and gain stronger followings, and I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of that movement by hosting the band at Cine El Rey on Thursday, May 29th.
